Emergency Shelter Thursday and Friday Night

We just got confirmation to open an emergency overnight shelter on Thursday and Friday night this week. The shelter is at 111 East Voris St. Akron, OH (next to CSS).

Please contact our director, Georgann at 330-840-9120 if you are in need of a bus pass to get to the shelter.

Friends of Hope Farm, please help us spread the word to homeless friends who need a warm, safe place to stay.

 

The Emergency Overnight Shelter will open this week on Thursday & Friday, January 28 and 29.

EOS (formerly CSS Outreach Building)

Bus #11 and #13, bus stop is across the Main Post Office on Wolf Ledges Parkway

Guest Hours: 8pm - 7am

Volunteer Operation Hours: 6pm - 9am


Community Guidelines for EOS Guests

  • No Weapons, Illegal Drugs, Alcohol

  • Masks MUST Be Worn At ALL TIMES -- except when eating and sleeping

  • Guests MUST stay inside assigned cubicle – except for Restroom or Outdoor Breaks

  • Outdoor Breaks allowed until Lights Out at 10pm – Outdoor Break times will be announced

  • Guests MUST check-in with Security after each Outdoor Break

COMMUNITY AGENCIES: Please notify your clients and area residents in need of shelter that the EOS will be open Jan 28 and 29. All guests must adhere to the community guidelines while inside the facility, anyone in violation will be asked to leave.


IMPORTANT: All guests will be asked to do a COVID-19 screening prior to entry. Any person exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms will not be able to stay in the EOS and will be referred to an EMT for medical attention.


VOLUNTEERS: REGISTER HERE

Please sign up for a morning and/or evening shift, there are 3 different volunteer roles per shift (details in the sign up sheet). Those who previously signed up for a volunteer slot, please confirm your availability by registering for the Jan 28 and 29 shifts.

2 Volunteer Shifts

EVENING 6pm-10pm

MORNING 6am-9am

Volunteer Roles:

Food Services (evening and morning shifts — 4 volunteers per shift)

Intake (Check-in) (evening shift — 2 volunteers per shift)

Outtake (Check-out) (morning shift — 2 volunteers per shift)

Floaters (evening and morning shifts — 2 volunteers per shift)

FOOD AND SUPPLY DONATIONS: REGISTER HERE

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity and support of community agencies and residents, the immediate food and supply needs for the EOS have changed. At this point we are in need of breakfast pastries, UHT milk, non-stick cooking spray, dishwashing detergents, paper towels, and ziplock bags. Details are provided on the sign up sheet. Please deliver these items to the EOS at 6pm, Thursday, January 28.
