Into the Night

The week has been challenging for our homeless friends. As the weather changes drastically from significant rain, cold and then snow they find themselves desperate.

Desperate for help. As I dropped off a friend after our Wednesday night meal I watched as he climbed a hill into the darkness. These sights never leave me. I think of the future and how desperately we at Hope Farm want to see this change in Akron Ohio.

No one should have to walk out of a warm building or a warm car into the woods to sleep in the cold only to wake up and start the desperate survival skills all over again. Foraging for food, standing on street corners begging, digging through trash dumpsters or clothing bins or selling themselves or scrap metal to make enough money for one more day.

Some may say its a choice, they deserve it, who cares and we look the other way.

Our friends are human beings created by God to live not simply survive.

Thank you to everyone that donated this week for Giving Tuesday. We will continued to press on into 2021 to help our friends and try to make desperate situations a bit more comfortable.
