Covid-19 is Making the Homeless Crisis Worse this Winter

Earlier this week, we shared an article about the increased danger for homeless individuals and families during the winter. Usually, shelters provide vital services to provide a warm place to sleep to many. However, space is always limited.

This year, the problem increases due to Covid-19 precautions. Social distancing means it takes more space to house people. This combined with more economic struggles is leading to real problems.

The Akron Beacon Journal shared this article highlighting the struggle that shelters are facing as they prepare for the surge of clients in the winter months. Housing is always difficult, but it could be worse this year.

Our director, Georgann is seeing the problem first-hand. “I'm pretty sure the shelters are already full,” she says, “This is a major crisis now.”

We are working toward a long-term solution, but the problem is immanent. So, we are calling on our volunteers and supporters to pray! Pray for more room in shelters. Pray for doors to open up for housing. Pray for creative solutions. Pray for safety for our homeless friends.

God listens, and He is powerful.

Thanks for praying!
