Disclaimer: Hope Farm, Inc. is not a medical organization, nor is the author a medical professional. This is an opinion piece based on experience with the homeless community.

Before coming to know Jesus personally my character was that of a rebel. I married a rebel and lived as one for many years. Interestingly that character quality has never been extinguished, just tempered.

Today some would say I am a rebel to the societal norms of our day. Rather than being fearful of contracting a virus, whatever strain is coming out this week, next week or next month, I choose alternatives. Those alternatives consist of a healthy lifestyle building up my immune system, through as much good nutrient dense, organic, raw, fresh food as possible.

I do eat an occasional burger and fries, meat and potatoes etc. However, this is not a daily choice.

Other alternatives are researching supplements that are known to help us. Vitamin D supplement, as well as sitting in the sun as much as possible in Ohio, Zinc, vitamin C and a good quality multivitamin.

Of course daily exercise, water, water, water, limiting soda and alcohol and trying to sleep well.

The above choices help me to maintain a healthy weight.

Some of these choices are not mentioned on the local/national news as ways to combat any sickness or dis-ease in our bodies as related to the virus. What is being constantly suggested is the vaccine. My opinion is that not enough research has been done. So, my choice is to refrain from receiving the vaccination. I know I am healthy, my immune system is strong, and there are medications available to help me If or When I get sick.

How does this related to ministry to homeless friends?

Our homeless friends, many of whom are addicted and suffer various forms of mental health issues, have not been sick with the virus. Why ?? Because they have some of the strongest immune systems in all the population. They live in the woods, under bridges in abandoned houses. These places are dirty, exactly what our creator uses to build our immunity. Most of our friends are underweight as well, not a good thing.

Now, Iā€™m not saying that we should take the health risks that our homeless friends take. However, I do think that we should take some comfort in the fact that God designed our immune systems to protect us against illness. Our immunity is something that is built over time through living life.

So, at 62 years old it is my rebellious opinion to live your life. Research for yourselves alternative news and health sources. Go play outside, make some mud pies, swim in a river, love well, serve well, sleep well, and Trust God. He is the source of Peace and Hope!

Have a great week!
